Explanation Of OM Letter In Sanskrit

OM,AUM is a Mantra, a Mystically locked sound.

It does not belong to one religion, but to Humanity.

The OM MantraImage.jpeg

OM Mantra..

It is a soundless sound that creates vibrations , both at the sub atomic level and at the macro Level.

It alters the micro and macrocosm.

I have written articles on the import of OM, its scientific validation and how it is the breath of the Earth.

One curious fact about OM, is that the Sanskrit script in which it is written represents some basic principles of Nature.

  • The large lower left curve represents Vaishvanara: The waking state/conscious mind/gross world.
  • The upper left curve represents Prajana: The dreamless state/unconscious mind/casual state
  • The large curve on the right represents Taijasa: The dreaming state/active unconscious/subtle world.
  • The semicircle represents Maya: The illusion that prevents us from seeing we are all one/paradoxical waking state/duality.
  • The dot represents Turiya: The infinite/pure consciousness/oneness.

Scientific study of OM is gaining currency in the West and numerous researches have proved its unique features.

Its ability to affect the Electro Magnetic Filed around and in us.

OM, 3 D Wall paper.jpg OM, 3 D Wall paper.

Its resonance is that of the Earth, Schumann Resonance.

OM’s effects on the individual’s mind state, especially the Alpha Waves is staggering.

I have published articles on these subjects.

Chanting God's Name and Mantra.gif Chanting God’s Name and Mantra- a Comparison.

Researchers in the Massachusetts General Hospital have found,

that the relaxation response – a state of deep rest attained through breathing, meditation, yoga and other practices — triggers changes in gene expression that can affect the body’s immune function, energy metabolism and insulin secretion. The new research — the first to look at rapid, gene-level changes following the relaxation practice — is published in the journal PLOS ONE.

Herbert Benson, a senior author of the new study, first described the “relaxation response” — what he calls the physiologic opposite of fight-or-flight — nearly 40 years ago. He’s now the director emeritus of the Benson-Henry institute for Mind-Body Medicine at MGH, where the technique is used to help patients manage a wide variety of medical conditions from anxiety and chronic pain to cancer.

Benson says the new research should give a credibility boost to his endeavors (which, by the way, non-Westerners have been practicing in various forms for thousands of years). “There’s now a scientific basis for these mind-body approaches that work,” Benson said. “For the mainstream, every little bit of evidence helps.”

Benson’s collaborator, Towia Libermann, PhD, director of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) Genomics, Proteomics, Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Center and co-senior author of the study, says the evidence clearly links the relaxation response to rapid changes in gene expression. “There is a relatively small subset of biological pathways affected by relaxation response,” he said. For instance, a pathway involved in immune disturbances and inflammation was repressed after the relaxation technique while another set of pathways involved in mitochondrial function and energy production were enhanced.

The study involved 52 people — 26 were long-time practitioners of the relaxation response, 26 had never done it, but were trained in the technique. The subjects had blood drawn before, immediately after they practiced, and 15 minutes later, and then researchers used advanced gene expression profiling and systems biology analysis to determine any changes in gene expression. These changes, Libermann said, occurred in both groups but were more pronounced among the long-time relaxers.

Libermann, who has been working with Benson for 10 years, says he was drawn to this research “to convince myself that there’s really something going on here, and it’s not just a placebo effect.” Now, he says: “I’m pretty convinced.” He and Benson are currently investigating whether the relaxation response triggers molecular-level changes in people with hypertension, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and other diseases.

Here’s more from MGH:

In 2008, Benson and Libermann led a study finding that long-term practice of the relaxation response changed the expression of genes involved with the body’s response to stress. The current study examined changes produced during a single session of relaxation response practice, as well as those taking place over longer periods of time.

The study enrolled a group of 26 healthy adults with no experience in relaxation response practice, who then completed an 8-week relaxation response training course. Prior to starting their training, the participants went through what was essentially a control group session – blood samples were taken before and immediately after they listened to a 20-minute health education CD and again 15 minutes later. After completing the training course, a similar set of blood tests was taken before and after participants listened to a 20-minute CD used to elicit the relaxation response as part of daily practice.

The sets of blood tests taken before the training program were designated “novice,” and those taken after training completion were categorized as from “short-term practitioners.” For further comparison a similar set of blood samples was taken from a group of 25 individuals with 4 to 25 years experience regularly eliciting the relaxation response through many different techniques before and after they listened to the same relaxation response CD. Blood samples from all participants were analyzed to determine the expression of more than 22,000 genes at the different time points.

The results revealed significant changes in the expression of several important groups of genes between the novice samples and those from both the short- and long-term sets, with even more pronounced changes in the long-term practitioners. A systems biology analysis of known interactions among the proteins produced by the affected genes revealed that pathways involved with energy metabolism, particularly the function of mitochondria, were upregulated during the relaxation response. Pathways controlled by activation of a protein called NF-κB – known to have a prominent role in inflammation, stress, trauma and cancer – were suppressed after relaxation response elicitation. The expression of genes involved in insulin pathways was also significantly altered.’

Lord Krishna Stayed At Madurai Yanaimalai?

I have written a few articles on the Tamils and people of Sanatana Dharma interacting quite frequently and Tamils were a Part of Sanatana Dharma, despite efforts being made to project Tamils as Inimical to Sanatana Dharma and that the North looked down at the South.

YanaiMalai,Elephant Mountain.jpg YanaiMalai

History proves otherwise.

Tamil Kings attended Nala Damayanthi Swayamvara, which had taken place before the Ramayana,Rama’s wedding with Sita, Draupadi’Swayamvara in the Mahabharata, Tamil Kings fought alongside the Pandavas in the Epic Battle of Mahabharata,Tamil King Cheralaathan fed both Kaurava and Pandava army during the Mahabharata war,He performed Tharpana for those who lost their Lives in the war, Arjuna, Sahadeva went on a Pilgrimage to South,Arjuna married a Pandyan Princess and Lord Krishna was a special Invitee for the Tamil Sangam, He married a Pandyan Princess, had a daughter through her named Pandiah, had her married to a Pandyan Prince and gave away 100 Yadava Families as  Gift f to her during her marriage.

Lord krishna with Radha,Image.jpg

Radha Krishna.

And Balarama visited the South and worshiped Lord Murugan, ( Subrahmanya) at Valliyur, Durga at Kanya Kumari, and also worshiped Parashurama.

And he visited Sriranagam before proceeding to meet Krishna at Yanaimalai, near Madurai!

Rishaba Parvata means mountain of Bull.

This may be due to some versions which state that the mountain looks like a Bull.

The other Rishba mountain near Bangalore,Nandi Hills, which is quite far away from Madurai.

Considering that Krishna married a Pandyan Princess, the place mentioned as Rishaba Mountain in the Mahabharata is to be taken as the Yanaimalai(Elephant hill, Ana/Yanai in Tamil means Elephant, near Madurai as the other Anaimalai is in the western Ghats and lies in Kerala/Coimbatore ,Tamil Nadu.

And Yanaimalai ,

“Two Hindu temples are present in the foothills, one being the Ladan cave temple (Ladan koil), a Shaivite temple dedicated to Muruga, and the other being Yoga Narasimha temple, a Vaishnavite temple dedicated to Vishnu. Both are rock-cut temples constructed by the Pandyas, belonging to the 8th century. The place where the Yoga Narasimha temple is situated is known as Narasingam. Tamil-Brahmi and Vattelettu inscriptions in the temples shows their history. The Ladan temple has been declared a protected monument by theArchaeological Survey of India.

There is a Vishnu Temple called Azhagar Koil and Vishnu comes to Madurai for Madurai Meenakshi’s marraige with Lord Shiva as Somasundara.

Please read my Post on this,

Thirupaaran Kundram , near Madurai is one of the Major temples of Lord Murugan( The Six Temples of Subrahmanya-Aarupadai Veedu.

““Lord Balarama bathed in the Gomati, Gandaki and Vipasa rivers, and also immersed Himself in the Sona. He went to Gaya, where He worshiped His forefathers, and to the mouth of the Ganges, where He performed purifying ablutions. At Mount Mahendra He saw Lord Parasurama and offered Him prayers, and then He bathed in the seven branches of the Godavari River, and also in the rivers Vena, Pampa and Bhimarathi. Then Lord Balarama met Lord Skanda and visited Sri Saila, the abode of Lord Girisa. In the southern provinces known as Dravida-desa the Supreme Lord saw the sacred Venkata Hill, as well as the cities of Kamakosni and Kanci, the exalted Kaveri River and the most holy Sri-ranga, where Lord Krsna has manifested Himself. From there He went to Rsabha Mountain, where Lord Krsna also lives, and to the southern Mathura. Then He came to Setubandha, where the most grievous sins are destroyed.” (Sri Balarama’s pilgrimage (Mahabharata 9 – Shalya Parva))

Yanaimalai (Elephant Hill) is a protected monument and tourist attraction in Tamil Nadu, India. It has Jain sculptures, a Shaivitetemple, and a Vaishnavite temple.

Yanaimalai is in Tamil Nadu, India. The hill stretches over 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) and is 90 metres (300 ft) high.

It is near Madurai.

Arjuna Visited Tirupati Papavinasa Theertha

Countless Pilgrimages were taken by people belonging to Mahabharata times to South India.

And contrary to what people think Tirupati is 2100 Million Years old.

Route taken by Arjuna in his Pilgrimage.jpg Arjuna’s Pilgrimage,Route.

Geologists have dated this and the information tallies with what Hindu Puranas say about the age of the Hills.

It is about 21oo Million years old.’

Source .Tirupati 2100 Million Years old

The List includes,

Lord Krishna,

Balarama,

The Pandavas,

Karna….

I had written an article on the Pilgrimage undertaken by Arjuna to South India.

papavinasam-theertham.jpg

Papavinasana Theertha, Tirupati.

Among other places visited by Arjuna, he visited Tirupati, had Darshan of Lord Varaha ,Balaji  and took a holy dip in the Papavinasana Theertha for atoning the sin of seeing Yudhistra and Draupadi together.(Skanda Purana)

Tirupati Papnanasa Theertham.jpg Tirupati Papnanasa Theertham.

When the five Pandavas were living together with their wife Draupadi, they had an arrangement, that Draupadi shall live as wife together with one of the Five and the other four Pandvas shall not be with her.

Sri Vatsam of balaji, Tirupati.jpgi.

Balaji Tirupati,Srivathsam is visible.

Lord Balaji, Tirupati.

At a point of time, Yudhistra was living with Draupadi.

Agni,God Fire,in the guise of a Brahmin sought the help of  Arjuna to help  ease his hunger.

Arjuna, being a Kshatriya and a King, could not but to accede to Agni’s request.

Without knowing who Agni was and what his hunger was for, Arjuna agreed and was  shocked to know it was Agni and his hunger was for burning down the Kanadava Forest.

He was in a dilemma for as a King he(Prince)  he had a duty to protect   forests with the animals living in it.

He consulted(who else?) Lord Krishna, who told him as a King and Kshatriya it was his duty to fulfill his promise .

( Krishna had a hidden agenda.

He knew that a great war will ensue , that Arjuna  did not have a powerful Bow and he waned Arjuna to possess one.

He engineered the whole event though Indra, father of Arjuna.)

As anticipated by Krishna Agni asked Vauna to give the best bow and he gave the Kandeeva to Arjuna.

Arjuna burnt the forest.

Agini gave him the Agneyastra as well.

When Arjuna came Home to take his old bow and arrows,he unintentionally saw Yudihistra and Draupadi together.

It is considered to be a sin to see man and wife together when they are intimate,Sastras declare and one has to atone for this,Prayaschitta.

One of the Prayascitta was going on a Pilgrimage.

Krishna advised the Prayaschitta of Pilgrimage as He wanted Arjuna to get the help of as many Kings as possible for the Mahabharata war(Arjuna was not aware of the fact).

Arjuna went on a Pilgrimage of India and in the process married many a princesses, including the daughter of a Pandya king-the Pandya fought the war along with the Panadvas.

Vyasa gives a detailed description of the route taken by Arjuna during the Pilgrimage.’

Papavinasam Theertham is around 2 miles from Tirumala and is a beautiful waterfall in the region. The devotees also believe a holy dip at this site can relieve them from their sins and evils. There are separate dressing rooms at this site for men and women, where they can change their dresses. The reservoir near the dam restricts the water flow in this theertham.

Rama’s Chandi Homa Details To Defeat Ravana

$

I have been curious about our worship of Lord Rama and Krishna.

Which God did Rama and Krishna worship?

They worshiped Shiva and Devi, apart from performing the Yagnyas prescribed in the Vedas.

Please read my Post.

Whom did Rama worship Ramani’s blog

Chandi Homa in progress.

Chandi Homa in progress.

Are there any specific Homas performed by Rama during the Ramayana Period?

Rama seems to have performed Santhi Homa after killing Ravana and returning to Ayodhya.

Rama's Coronation.jpg

Rama Pattabhishekam

He also performed a Yagnya at Buxar after His Coronation by marking the Yaagashaala with the tip of His arrow for Lord Shiva .

This is called Ramarekhaghat in Buxar.

Rama Ramrekha Ghat

Apart from this Rama seems to have performed Chandi Homa to defeat Ravana.

This was performed after Indrajith performed a Secret Yaaga to defeat Rama.

After this Lakshmana was rendered unconscious by Inderjith.

‘Rama had performed “Chandi Homa” and invoked the blessings of Durga, who blessed Rama with secret knowledge of the way to kill Ravana. On the day of Ashvin Shukla Dashami, Rama defeated Ravana and rescued Sita. Thus it is termed as Vijaya Dashami. Based on the inferences from Valmiki’s Ramayana, Kalidas’s Raghuvamsa, Tulsidas’s Ram Charit Manas, and Keshavdas’s Ram Chandra Yas Chandrika as well as common perception in India, Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana returned to Ayodhya on the 30th day of Ashwin (19–20 days after Vijayadashmi). To mark the return of Lord Rama, in the evening, the residents of Ayodhya lit their city with millions of earthen lamps (called Deepak). Since then, this day is celebrated in India as Deepawali’

Benefits of Chandi Homa.

Chandi Homa can aid one in clearing off the obstacles and hurdles on the path to success.

Goddess Durga, the chief deity of this Homa will gift you with the power to balance one’s passion and dispassion, indulgence and denial.

With her blessing, one will be able to manifest your true divine Self that unites selfishness and selflessness.

By performing this Homa, one can invoke the energy of Goddess Durga, who will help you master your life!

Steps in Performing Chandi Homa.

A Chandi Homa is not an ordinary Homa and has to be performed by expert priests.

Duraga Sapthashati will be chanted.

Ganapathy pooja: Prayers are offered to the Lord Ganesha seeking his blessings. Worshipping Lord Ganesha clears all the obstacles and paves way for one’s success. So, before any auspicious beginning, Lord Ganesha is first addressed with pooja and prayers.

Kanya pooja: Kanya Pooja is one of the highlight of the Navaratri celebrations. Kanya pooja is a ritual of worshiping girls (aged 6 – 10) who haven’t attained puberty, symbolizing the Kanya Kumari (prepubescent) form of Goddess Chandi or Durga. This ritual is specially performed to recognize the divine feminine power vested in a girl child.

Anugna Sankalpam: Seeking the consent of the Goddess to perform the Yagna which is a sacred ritual. The ritual specifies for whom, where and when the yagna is performed.

Punyahavachanam: Purifying the mind, body and place before the yagna is performed. Water is sprinkled with mango leaves around the place with the chanting of Mantras.

Kalasa Sthaapana: Kalasa means a pot. It is made of metal and is filled with water and placed with Mango leaves immersed in the water. Pooja is made to this Kalasa invoking the blessings of the goddess.

Saptashati Parayanam: Chanting of Durga Saptashati Slokas (700 sanskrit poems) and worshipping the various forms of the Goddess. Bhairava Bhali (offering): After the chanting of Slokas, offering is made to Lord Bhairava (an incarnation of Lord Shiva) to signify the ritual.

Ganapathy pooja: Prayers are offered to Lord Ganesha before beginning the Yagna

Punyahavachanam: Pooja and mantras are chanted to purify the place and people who are performing the Yagna

Gho pooja: The Sanskrit word Gho means Cow. In Hinduism, Cow is considered to be a holy animal embodied with divine qualities. Pooja and prayers are offered to the cow before the yagna, seeking her blessings for prosperity.

Suhasini Pooja: Worshipping an elderly married woman (whose husband is alive) and performing Pada (traditional foot washing ceremony) pooja to invoke her blessings.

Dampathi pooja: Dampathi means couple. Prayers are offered to an elderly couple with Padha pooja.

Brahmachari pooja: A Brahmachari is an unmarried man. He is held in high esteem in Vedas and Puranas for several reasons. Padha pooja and prayers are offered to a Brahmachari seeking his blessings.

Chandi yagna: The fire ritual is performed with the chanting of Mantras and Slokas.

Sumangala Dravyaahuti: Auspicious materials such as Saree, turmeric, sandalwood powder, kumkum (vermillion) etc. are offered to the Goddess invoked in the Fire.

Purnaahuti: Any Yagna becomes complete only when this ritual is performed. Betel leaves, Betel nuts, Coconut, Kumkum (red colored auspicious powder), Turmeric, Flowers, Fruits, a coin, a small bag of herbs are put together in a silk cloth and tied. The bag is dropped into the fire seeking the blessings of the Almighty.

Maha Deeparadhana: A ritual to honor the Goddess. Lights are lit using camphor and are used to glorify the Goddess. It is also called Aarthi and is performed during the end of the pooja.

Goddess Andal Takes Oil Bath Srivilliputhur Ennai Kaapu

One of the special features of Hinduism is its treatment of Gods and Goddesses as human beings and interacting with them as with humans.

God can not be known.

But can be and is felt.

Divine experience relates to Heart , emotions and feelings and never to Mind and Brain.

The fact is despite all reasoning and Rationalism Man is driven by emotions and lives by it.

The sense of devotion is heightened when one treats as one among ourselves and not some one or thing which sits in a Lofty tower wielding clubs and delivering punishment.

I can never relate to this God.

Goddess Andal's Hair being combed.jpg Goddess Andal’s Hair being combed.Margazhi Utsavam

I relate to God as a Human Being till I spiritually evolve to know that He is a Principle.

Till then I shall treat Him as my Father, Mother, Brother, Teacher, Lover and Friend.

The Path of Devotion called Bhakti Marga is this.

One gets engrossed in the emotion of God and gets spiritually elated.

In Tamil literature there are poems belonging to the Middle Ages, around 1200 -1400 extolling this aspect of Bhakthi, propagated by Azhwars( of Vishnu) and Nayanmaras( of Shiva)

Each temple in India is associated with the activity of God a Human Being and there are temple festivals relating to them, when these events are enacted.

Andal Ennaikkaappu .jpg Andal Ennaikkaappu

In Srivilliputhur, The Home of Andal one of the Saints of Hinduism and Vishnu Chitta, her father, both of them venerated Azhvars( which happens to be my place of Birth and early schooling) this interaction of Man and God is very much in evidence in the form of Festivals.

One special Festival is the bathing of Andal in Oil.

Then she is bathed with a specil bathing powder Snana Powder, whic is miles ahead of your Shampoos in therms of clearing oil and emitting fragrance)

The she is decked up.

This is called Ennaikkappu(anointment of Oil)

Gingelly Oil is anointed to the Utsava Murthy of Andal.

This festival falls on the last seven days of Margazhi,Mrigasira month(December end, January first week) and one day in Thai Month(Makara Sankaranthi)

‘Margazhi Ennai Kappu Utsavam is presently taking place at Srivilliputtur Sri Andal Rangamannar Divya Desam. Ennai Kappu Utsavam is annually celebrated during the last eight days of the Margazhi month. During this utsavam, Andal is taken to the Ennai Kappu mandapam and thailam is applied by the Battars to Andal and the uapcharams is  performed by Archakars. The highlighted fact of this utsavam is the famous Souri kondai. There are four sessions in a day during Ennai kappu – first from moolastanam special alangarams is performed for example Azagarkolam, Krishanar kolam and Muthangi; then the second session is the Ennai kappu kollam with Andal in Souri Kondai; the third session is Thirumanajam; and the fourth session  is Vahana Seva (different vahanams on the 8 days).’

Why No Shiva Gotra Among Brahmins

$

I have written articles on the Gotra, the Hindu System of tracing Lineage, with a List of Brahmin Gotras and Brahmin Surnames in India.

I have also published Vaisya and Kshatriya Surnames.

Shiva,jpg Shiva, Image credit.www. stephen Knapp.com

Often I receive mails and calls to verify whether a Gotra belongings to Brahmins and I have been replying.

I shall be writing a Post on How to identify Brahmin Gotra.

In the course of answering these questions I was struck by one fact.

That there is No Shiva Gotra is not found among Brahmins, despite Shiva being considered as a Brahmin because of Function and Vishnu as Kshatriya because of the same yard stick, that of protecting us.

And Subrahmanya is considered as the best among the best of Brahmins-Su+Brahmanya.

One does not find Rama and Krishna Gotras among Hindu community.

I have written on this, explaining the reason.

Then why Shiva is left out, even though He is described as a Brahmin?

1.Shiva is truly a Ayonija, never born of a womb.He appears from nowhere and disappears.

He does not have progeny  ,like Rama or Krishna.

2.The term Brahmin denotes one who realizes Brahman by self efforts.

Shiva being Para Brahman Himself, He need not realize.

He is without attributes, Nirguna.

Hence  to belong to a Brahmin Gora he should have realized Brahman which is not the case with Him.

Hence no Shiva Gotra among Brahmins.

In comparison between Rama and Krishna. while Rama was aware of Himself as Brahman occasionally, Krishna was all the time aware of it and He, like Shiva did not need to Realize Himself.

And Krishna’s Children were killed and He was left with no progeny, consequent to Gandhari’s Curse.

However Shiva Gotra is found among communities other than Brahmins for it had been a practice to denote Shiva as the Father when one is unable to trace the ancestry.

Anoter intersting point to note is that though Viswamitra was not a Brahmin by birth we find Viswamitra Gotra among Brahmins indicating that caste is by disposition and character and not by birth.

Inputs with authentic sources welcome.

How To Control Husbands Draupadi to Satyabhama

$

As human beings, we try to take advantage of others, though we may deny it.
This trait is inbuilt as a tool for survival.
This trait does not exclude any relationship, father, mother, children, spouse and friends.
This does not exclude the differnciation between male and female.

image

The process of taking advantage of others involves manipulation and control of others.
This happens every where, in all relationships.
When this is noticed between a husband and wife, charges like being controlled by wife or by husband it assumes unwarranted issues ,like the observation that men control women and women’s freedom is in danger.
(When a man becomes hen pecked, there are no comments)

I checked Mahabharata, greatest treatise ob human relaionships as what ought to be and what is,for information.
When Sathyabhama,a wife of Krishna meets Draupadi, wife of the Pandavas, this issue is addressed.
On being asked by Sathyabhama how to control her husband Krishna Draupai replies thus,
,

SECTION CCXXXI
(Draupadi-Satyabhama Samvada)
Vaisampayana said, “After those Brahmanas and the illustrious sons of Pandu had taken their seats, Draupadi and Satyabhama entered the hermitage. And with hearts full of joy the two ladies laughed merrily and seated themselves at their ease. And, O king, those ladies, who always spake sweetly to each other, having met after a long time, began to talk upon various delightful topics arising out of the stories of the Kurus and the Yadus. And the slender-waisted Satyabhama, the favourite wife of Krishna and the daughter of Satrajit, then asked Draupadi in private, saying, ‘By what behaviour is it, O daughter of Drupada, that thou art able to rule the sons of Pandu–those heroes endued with strength and beauty and like unto the Lokapalas themselves? Beautiful lady, how is it that they are so obedient to thee and are never angry with thee? Without doubt the sons of Pandu, O thou of lovely features, are ever submissive to thee and watchful to do thy bidding!

[paragraph continues] Tell me, O lady, the reason of this. Is it practice of vows, or asceticism, or incantation or drug at the time of the bath (in season) or the efficacy of science, or the influence of youthful appearance, or the recitation of particular formulae, or Homa, or collyrium and other medicaments? Tell me now, O princess of Panchala, of that blessed and auspicious thing by which, O Krishna, Krishna may ever be obedient to me.”
“When the celebrated Satyabhama, having said this, ceased, the chaste and blessed daughter of Drupada answered her, saying, ‘Thou askedest me, O Satyabhama, of the practices of women that are wicked. How can I answer thee, O lady, about the cause that is pursued by wicked females? It doth not become thee, lady, to pursue the questions, or doubt me, after this, for thou art endued with intelligence and art the favourite wife of Krishna. When the husband learns that his wife is addicted to incantations and drugs, from that hour he beginneth to dread her like a serpent ensconced in his sleeping chamber. And can a man that is troubled with fear have peace, and how can one that hath no peace have happiness? A husband can never be made obedient by his wife’s incantations. We hear of painful diseases being transmitted by enemies. Indeed, they that desire to slay others, send poison in the shape of customary gifts, so that the man that taketh the powders so sent, by tongue or skin, is, without doubt, speedily deprived of life. Women have sometimes caused dropsy and leprosy, decrepitude and impotence and idiocy and blindness and deafness in men. These wicked women, ever treading in the path of sin, do sometimes (by these means) injure their husbands. But the wife should never do the least injury to her lord. Hear now, O illustrious lady, of the behaviour I adopt towards the high-souled sons of Pandu. Keeping aside vanity, and controlling desire and wrath, I always serve with devotion the sons of Pandu with their wives. Restraining jealousy, with deep devotion of heart, without a sense of degradation at the services I perform, I wait upon my husbands. Ever fearing to utter what is evil or false, or to look or sit or walk with impropriety, or cast glances indicative of the feelings of the heart, do I serve the sons of Pritha–those mighty warriors blazing like the sun or fire, and handsome as the moon, those endued with fierce energy and prowess, and capable of slaying their foes by a glance of the eye. Celestial, or man, or Gandharva, young or decked with ornaments, wealthy or comely of person, none else my heart liketh. I never bathe or eat or sleep till he that is my husband hath bathed or eaten or slept,–till, in fact, our attendants have bathed, eaten, or slept. Whether returning from the field, the forest, or the town, hastily rising up I always salute my husband with water and a seat. I always keep the house and all household articles and the food that is to be taken well-ordered and clean. Carefully do I keep the rice, and serve the food at the proper time. I never indulge in angry and fretful speech, and never imitate women that are wicked. Keeping idleness at distance I always do what is agreeable. I never laugh except at a jest, and never stay for any length of time at the house-gate. I never stay long in places for answering calls of nature, nor in pleasure-gardens attached to the house. I always refrain from laughing loudly and indulging in high passion, and

from everything that may give offence. Indeed, O Satyabhama, I always am engaged in waiting upon my lords. A separation from my lords is never agreeable to me. When my husband leaveth home for the sake of any relative, then renouncing flowers and fragrant paste of every kind, I begin to undergo penances. Whatever my husband drinketh not, whatever my husband eateth not, whatever my husband enjoyeth not, I ever renounce. O beautiful lady, decked in ornaments and ever controlled by the instruction imparted to me, I always devotedly seek the good of my lord. Those duties that my mother-in-law had told me of in respect of relatives, as also the duties of alms-giving, of offering worship to the gods, of oblations to the diseased, of boiling food in pots on auspicious days for offer to ancestors and guests of reverence and service to those that deserve our regards, and all else that is known to me, I always discharge day and night, without idleness of any kind. Having with my whole heart recourse to humility and approved rules I serve my meek and truthful lords ever observant of virtue, regarding them as poisonous snakes capable of being excited at a trifle. I think that to be eternal virtue for women which is based upon a regard for the husband. The husband is the wife’s god, and he is her refuge. Indeed, there is no other refuge for her. How can, then, the wife do the least injury to her lord? I never, in sleeping or eating or adorning any person, act against the wishes of my lord, and always guided by my husbands, I never speak ill of my mother-in-law. O blessed lady, my husbands have become obedient to me in consequence of my diligence, my alacrity, and the humility with which I serve superiors. Personally do I wait every day with food and drink and clothes upon the revered and truthful Kunti–that mother of heroes. Never do I show any preference for myself over her in matters of food and attire, and never do I reprove in words that princess equal unto the Earth herself in forgiveness. Formerly, eight thousand Brahmanas were daily fed in the palace of Yudhishthira from off plates of gold. And eighty thousand Brahmanas also of the Snataka sect leading domestic lives were entertained by Yudhishthira with thirty serving-maids assigned to each. Besides these, ten thousand yatis with the vital seed drawn up, had their pure food carried unto them in plates of gold. All these Brahamanas that were the utterers of the Veda, I used to worship duly with food, drink, and raiment taken from stores only after a portion thereof had been dedicated to the Viswadeva. 1 The illustrious son of Kunti had a hundred thousand well-dressed serving-maids with bracelets on arms and golden ornaments on necks, and decked with costly garlands and wreaths and gold in profusion, and sprinkled with sandal paste. And adorned with jewels and gold they were all skilled in singing and dancing. O lady, I knew the names and features of all those girls, as also what they are and what they were, and what they did not. Kunti’s son of great intelligence
had also a hundred thousand maid-servants who daily used to feed guests, with plates of gold in their hands. And while Yudhishthira lived in Indraprastha a hundred thousand horses and a hundred thousand elephants used to follow in his train. These were the possessions of Yudhisthira while he ruled the earth. It was I however, O lady, who regulated their number and framed the rules to be observed in respect of them; and it was I who had to listen to all complaints about them. Indeed, I knew everything about what the maid-servants of the palace and other classes of attendants, even the cow-herds and the shepherds of the royal establishment, did or did not. O blessed and illustrious lady, it was I alone amongst the Pandavas who knew the income and expenditure of the king and what their whole wealth was. And those bulls among the Bharatas, throwing upon me the burden of looking after all those that were to be fed by them, would, O thou of handsome face, pay their court to me. And this load, so heavy and incapable of being borne by persons of evil heart, I used to bear day and night, sacrificing my ease, and all the while affectionately devoted to them. And while my husbands were engaged in the pursuit of virtue, I only supervised their treasury inexhaustible like the ever-filled receptacle of Varuna. Day and night bearing hunger and thirst, I used to serve the Kuru princes, so that my nights and days were equal to me. I used to wake up first and go to bed last. This, O Satyabhama, hath ever been my charm for making my husbands obedient to me! This great art hath ever been known to me for making my husbands obedient to me. Never have I practised the charms of wicked women, nor do I ever wish to practise them.”
Vaisampayana continued, “Hearing those words of virtuous import uttered by Krishna, Satyabhama, having first reverenced the virtuous princess of Panchala, answered saying, ‘O princess of Panchala, I have been guilty, O daughter of Yajnasena, forgive me! Among friends, conversations in jest arise naturally, and without premeditation.”
In essence if one serves another even to take advantage later, this helps one to take control over the other.

In the process no body loses but the ego.

I have observed that women who, in the eyes of outsiders, is bossed over and controlled by her husband is really the Boss and controls the husband and the husband knows it.

Family decisions are taken, though they may appear to be taken by the Husband, is realyy by the wife

Porus Defeated Spared Alexander Life .

A I wade through the History of India , I found and still find that it is littered with lies.

As about 5000 years of History has been suppressed and misinterpreted, it is an arduous task.

Reason for this state of affairs lies in the attitude of Indians.

wp-1452866636801.jpeg

King Porus

By tradition and their religious belief  Indians considered mundane subjects like History and even science as inferior knowledge s only the Knowledge of the Reality is worth considering as Knowledge.

Secondly the invasion by foreigners, who , realizing that the Indians could not be subjugated without destroying their faith in their Religion, their History as enumerated in their Puranas and the science as revealed in the Vedas and other Sanskrit Texts ( and in regional languages as well), destroyed this faith in the garb of bringing in western education and culture.

One is by the early invaders like the Greeks and  in a more systematic way by the British who colonized and ruled  Indian for nearly 300 years.

In between we had Muslim invaders who, though misinterpreted Indian History, it was not as damaging as the British.

Alexander Empire?

This blog is about exposing these lies, misinterpretations with evidence from Archeology, etymology, cultural affinities between various civilizations around the word and Sanatana Dharma, which was labeled as Hinduism.

Indian History taught at school begins with the Invasion of India as the beginning of Real (?) History , events narrated in Indian texts, both English and Regional having been dismissed as legends, myths and fantasies.
That India did not exist before 4000 years (John Stuart Mill in History of India, the first official(?) History of India.)
That Indians were a barbaric race deeply mired in superstitions and uncivilized religious practices,
That the Greeks were the first to bring civilization to India,
There were Aryans who entered India through the Khyber Pass and drove the Dravidians south,
There was caste system which was eating away the vitals of India,
Aurangazeb was a pious and noble man,

Islamic invaders left a legacy in architecture, mutual respect for other religions, in the last case by Emperor Akbar’s Deen Elahi.
There was an immortal love story of Shah Jehan and he built the Taj Mahal in memory of his love,
No mention about authentic puranic evidence found by archeology and validated by carbon dating and infra-red analysis,
No mention of advanced modern concepts in the Vedas and other treatises.
This blog explores the history of India with the help of Indian texts, archeology, other scientific tools like astronomy based dating (Internal evidence as found in Sanskrit and Regional language, references in the contemporary texts of other civilisatios(external evidence) and the archaeological finds in other countries, their language , culture and present customs.

I have written a number of articles on these subjects.
In an earlier article that Alexander’s triumph over Porus and Alexander’ subsequent return to Greece looked suspicious., as thte source one depends on heavily is Megasthanes’s Indica of Chadra Gupta Maurya Empire.

Megasthanes writes in detail about Chandra Gupta even intimate details.

But the catch is Megasthanes never met Chandra Gupta Maurya.
Now I have found information that buttresses my claim that Alexander did not defeat Porus and it was Porus who defeated Alexander.
And scared of meeting up with Porus’s army Alexander’s army revolted and as a result Alexander returned to Greece and en route he died or poisoned tp death.
The latter seems to be true in the light of Alexander’s remains having been found to contain evidence of poisoning.
What  is

taught as history on Alexander in Indian schools and colleges?
Alexander, having won all the kingdoms west of Greece up-to Bacteria( Persia) , proceeded to India ,defeated many kings and finally met his foe Porus in Punjab.
Alexander entered into a pact with Ambhi a sworn enemy of Porus with whom he attended the Taxila as a Student.

Ambhi was a descendant of Shakuni of Mahabharata

Alexander defeated Porus and in appreciation of his valor, Alexander gave the Kingdom back to Porus and left Selecus Nicator as his Representative in India..

What are the facts?

“Strabo, the Greek historian wrote: “Generally speaking, the men who have written on the affairs of India were a set of liars…Of this we became the more convinced whilst writing the history of Alexander.”

“Following Alexander’s failure to gain a position in India and the defeat of his successor Seleucus Nikator, relationships between the Indians and the Greeks and the Romans later, was mainly through trade and diplomacy. Also the Greeks and other ancient peoples did not see themselves as in any way superior, only different.”

This statement by Russia’s Marshal Gregory Zhukov on the Macedonian invasion of India in 326 BCE is significant because unlike the prejudiced colonial and Western historians, the Greeks and later Romans viewed Indians differently. For instance, Arrian writes in Alexander Anabasis that the Indians were the noblest among all Asians.

In fact, Arrian and other Greeks say the Indians were relentless in their attacks on the invaders. They say if the people of Punjab and Sindh were fierce, then in the eastern part of India “the men were superior in stature and courage”.

All this is glossed over by Western historians, in whose view the one victory over king Porus amounted to the “conquest of India”. But the Greeks made no such claim…

Greek contemporary writers describe the Battle of Hydaspes (Jhelum) as the hardest fought of all Alexander’s battles. Frank Lee Holt, a professor of ancient history at the University of Houston, writes in his book, Alexander the Great and the Mystery of the Elephant Medallions: “The only reference in Arrian’s history to a victory celebration by Alexander’s army was after the battle with Porus.”

Alexander’s army did not indulge in celebrations after the Battle of Gaugamela where they defeated 200,000 Persians. No wild festivities were announced after the Battle of Issus where they defeated a mixed force of Persian cavalry and Greek mercenaries.

The fact they celebrated after the Battle of Hydaspes suggests they considered themselves extremely lucky to survive after the clash with the Hindu army, with its elephant corps.

According to the Greeks, Alexander was apparently so impressed by Porus he gave back his kingdom plus the territories of king Ambhi of Taxila who had fought alongside the Macedonians.

This is counterintuitive. Ambhi had become Alexander’s ally on the condition he would be given Porus’ kingdom. So why reward the enemy, whose army had just mauled the Macedonians?

The only possible answer is at the Battle of Hydaspes, the Macedonians realised they were dealing with an enemy of uncommon valour. Sensing defeat they called for a truce, which Porus accepted. The Indian king struck a bargain – in return for Ambhi’s territories, which would secure his frontiers, Porus would assist the Macedonians in leaving India safely.

Alexander’s post-Hydaspes charitable behaviour, as per Greek accounts, is uncharacteristic and unlikely. For, in battles before and after, he massacred everyone in the cities he subdued.

Description of the War.

In reality, the Greek-Macedonian force, after having lost several thousand soldiers fighting much smaller Indian mountain cities, were terrified at the prospect of fighting the fierce Paurava army. They had also heard about the havoc that Indian war elephants were supposed to create among enemy ranks. The modern equivalent of battle tanks, the war elephants also scared the wits out of the horses in the Greek cavalry.

According to the Roman historian Marcus Justinus, the battle was savagely fought. Puru challenged Alexander, who charged him on horseback. In the ensuing duel, Alexander fell off his horse and was at the mercy of the Indian king’s spear (and this is where legend meets history) when Puru perhaps remembered his promise to his rakhi sister (probably a Trojan horse sent in by the Greeks). He spared the Macedonian’s life, and Alexander’s bodyguards quickly carried off their king.

The Greeks may claim victory but if Alexander’s troops were so badly mauled by the petty regional fiefdoms, how could they have crushed the comparatively stronger army of Puru? An unbiased re-examination of contemporary histories suggests the Greeks probably lost the battle and Alexander sued for peace.

In his epic volume, The Life and Exploits of Alexander, a series of translations of the Ethiopic histories of Alexander, E.A.W. Budge, Egyptologist, orientalist and philologist, has given a vivid account of the Macedonian’s misadventure in India.

According to Budge, who worked for the British Museum in the early part of the 20th century, in the Battle of Hydaspes the Indians destroyed the majority of Alexander’s cavalry? Realising that if he were to continue fighting he would be completely ruined, the Macedonian requested Puru to stop fighting. True to Indian traditions, the magnanimous Indian king spared the life of the surrendered enemy. A peace treaty was signed, and Alexander helped Puru in annexing other territories to his kingdom.

The Greek geographer Strabo complains in the Geographika that all who wrote about Alexander preferred the marvellous to the true. Certainly he alludes to Alexander’s original propaganda to glorify his struggle in the East. He created his own mystified version of the campaign, transforming it into a search for divine traces.

Shivas Secret Name Shambhu Ashta Eight Temples

Shiva is a Pre Sanatana Dharma/vedic Deity, though He finds a rare mention in the Vedas.

Records indicate He was worshiped in the South, the Dravida Desa much before the worship of Vishnu.

The spread of Shiva, Ganesha and Murugan(Subrahmanya cult in the south Asian Countries and towards the west culminating in the US has been documented in this blog.

Shiva has been attributed many names,

Sankara,Neelakanta,Visweswara,Mahadeva,Triyambaka,Tripurantaka,Mahakala,Kala,

Mrutyanjaya,Sarveswara.

Viswesvaraya Mahdevaaya Triyambakaaya Tripurantakaaya Trikaagni Kaalaya Kaalagni Rudraaya Neelakantaaya Mruntnjayaya Sarveswara Sadasivaaya -Sri Rudram

Even this Maha Mantra does not disclose the secret Name of Shiva, mentioning the name of Shiva  in secret  in the Rudram in the Yajur Veda, in the middle of the eleven anuvaakas, in the fifth anuvaka, again in in the 5th stanza as the fifth word!

‘Nama Sivaya cha Sivadharaaya Cha’

The hidden name is Shambhu, indicating Shivas’ Bliss.

astasambhu_siva_temple-i

Ashta( Eight)Shiva Temples.Bhubaneshwar.

‘This name of Lord Shankar indicates his blissful personality. He assumes the form of gross elements during playful moments, while he becomes the object of concentration during spiritual moments. Therefore He is called as Shambhu. Shiva, Maheshwar and Shambhu; these names indicate creation, maintenance and annihilation respectively. Thus these three titles can be accepted as the neutral symptoms of Brahman, the Absolute. Material cause (Upadan उपादान) from the first title, efficient cause ( Nimitta निमित्त) from the second title and the oneness of cause and effect has to be understood from the third title. A great Shaiva शैव and crown jewel of Tantra तंत्र Shri Bhaskar Roy reveals the secret of this name as under—
शं भवयसि च भवसे शं च भवसि चेति वा देव्।
त्वं देवदारुविपिने लिङ्गे प्रथितोस्यतः शम्भुः॥
O Lord!! You generate all bliss and you enjoy all bliss, you are embodiment of all bliss and eternity. Your lingam which resides in pinewood forest, is called Shambhu-lingam शंभु लिंगम्. So you are known as Shambhu.
The sense of delight which we feel in ourselves, that also depends on the delightfulness of Lord Shambhu. He remains uncovered just to allow us to get pleasures ceaselessly. His perpetually uncovered form is eternally joyful to Him. Therefore Lord Shiva is called Chidananda चिदानंद. Even the happiness felt by us in gross sense objects, that happiness also comes from Shiva because there is no other origin of happiness except Lord Umesha. Attainment of the happy and blissful nature of the self is the secret of holy name ‘ Shambhu’.

“शं सुखं भक्तानां भावयतीति शंभु:”, meaning, one who produces happiness to his devotees

-Shankaracharya in His commentary on the Vishnu Sahasranama.

There are eight (Ashta) Shiva Temples in Bhubaneshwar,Odisha, India.

‘In the Uttaresvara Siva Temple precinct there are eight temples of identical size and dimension locally known as Astasambhu. Ashtameans eight and Sambhu refers to another name of Lord Shiva. Five of them are arranged in one alignment are also known as Panchu Pandava. The temple is under the private ownership and is maintained by the Ratnakara Gargabatu and family. According to architectural features like bada division and pabhaga mouldings, this temple was built around 10th Century A.D. This is a building made up of stones and its typology is Rekha Deul. The temple is surrounded by Godavari tank in the east, Uttaresvara Siva Templecompound wall in west, and Bindusagar tank in south beyond the compound wall. The temple has an east facing shrine.

The temple has a square vimanam(shrine) measuring 2.45 metres with a frontal porch of 0.53 metres. Its pancharatha(five chariots) as distinguished by a central raha and a pair of ‘anuratha and kanika pagas on either sides of the raha. On elevation, he vimana is of rekha order that measures 5.72 metres in height from pabhaga to kalasa. From bottom to the top the temple has a bada, gandi andmastaka. With three fold divisions of the bada the temple has a trianga bada measuring 1.72 metres. At the bottom the pabhaga has four base mouldings of khura, kumha, pata, basanta that measures 0.47 metres. Jangha measures 0.90 metres and barandameasuring 0.35 metres thick has three mouldings. The gandi measuring 3.00 metres in height is devoid of any decoration and mastaka measures 1.00 metres with components like beki, amlaka, khapuri and kalasa.

The parsvadevata niches are located on the raha paga of the jangha on the three sides of north, west and south measuring 0.50 metres x 0.32 metres and with a depth of 0.20 metres. Except the southern niche the rest two are empty. The niches are decorated with talagarbhika and urdhagarbhika of khakhara order. The southern niche houses a four armed Ganesha holding a parasu in his lower left, a rosary with varadamudra pose in lower right hand. His upper hands are broken. The deity is flanked on the top by two flying vidyadharas holding garlands in their hands. This temple is made up of coarse grey sand stone, construction technique is dry masonry type and construction type is Kalingan.

Uttareswara Shiva Temple.

Uttaresvara Siva temple is located within a precinct in the northern embankment of Bindusagar tank in the Nalamuhana Sahi, Kedara-Gouri Chowk, Old Town, Bhubaneswar. The enshrining deity in this temple is a Siva lingam within a circular yoni pitha at the centre of sanctum. The original temple has collapsed, as evident from the renovation work above the pabhaga and presence of cult images of earlier phase in different parts of the temple walls without conforming to the canonical prescriptions. It is the main temple within the precinct along with nine lesser shrines..

Ganapati or Ganesa is the most revered Deity of Sanatana Dharma loosely called Hinduism.

Though many Gods are worshiped in India, each being revered more than the others in a specific pooja or Stotra.
One finds Shiva being called Supreme in Shiva Stuthis and in Vishnu Aradhana Vishnu stands taller than Shiva and others.

But in all the Poojas there is an exception to one God.

And that is Ganesa.

Rama did not Worship Rameswaram Valmiki Ramayana

Rameswaram, which has Ramanathaswamy ,a form of Lord Shiva is a Holy Place for Hindus.

People take bath in the 22 Theerthas and in the sea, Bay Of Bengal to expiate their sins.

swamy

Parvatha Vardhini and Ramanathaswamy Rameswaram.

It is believed that Lord Rama built

a Bridge here to cross over to Lanka to bring Sita back.

On return He worshiped Lord Shiva in the form of a Linga.

He asked Hanuman to bring a shiva Linga to worship but as the auspicious time was running out a Shiva
Linga was made out of sand by Sita and Rama worshiped it.

He also took bath in the Theerthas.

While Valmiki mentions about Rama building a bridge from near Rameswaram, his Ramayana is silent on Rama’s worship of Shiva Linga there.
However this is narrated by Veda Vyasa in his Adyatma Ramayana.

. Rama also speaks about the merit of Pilgrimage to Rameswara in the Adhyatma Ramayana.

Why Ayush Mruthyunjaya Homas

The Blessing , Aaseervatha Mantra states,

Sree varchasvam ayushyam aarogyam maavithaath

Sobamanam maheeyanthe

Dhaanyam Dhanam pasum bahuputra laabham

Satha samvathsarm dheeragamaayuhu.

The blessings start with auspicious life.

The rest come later.

Once born it is the desire of one is to live as long as possible.

Dheergayus means a life span of 120 years in Kali Yuga, though it is mentioned as Satha Samvathsaram( 100 years)

Life depends on , contrary to what many think, wholly external forces not in our control,be it the air we beathe, water ,earth, fire and the ether.

We take these for granted.

We would appreciate them only in their absence.

The human body is made up of the five elements that make up the Cosmos.

We are nothing but a reflection, photocopy of the Cosmis in miniature.

One is likely to lead a longer life if these five elements in the Cosmos and in our bodies sync.

If there is a variation, one falls sick and in serious maladjustments one leaves the body.

While we strive to be tuned into Nature’s Rhythm, Nature should also cooperate.

That is not in our hands.

As we are nothing but the Cosmos in a small scale, our chitta ( higher plane over mind and intellect) should will for longevity.

By self tuning the Chitta one controls the Cosmos and its Principles.

This is Yoga.

This fine tuning can be done by chanting, listening to mystically locked sounds called Mantras.

And the propitiator of life , Agni, Fire carries the power of the Mantras to the other elements ,which being the same for us and the Cosmos ignites our Chitta.

And longevity is assured if the Homa Rites are performed correctly, as prescribed in the texts.

There are two types of Homas for Longevity.

The Ayush Homa and

The Mrutyanjaya Homa.

mahamritunjay-mantra

Maha Mrutunjaya Mantra.

Though they seem to address the same issue, Longevity there is a minor differnce.

While Ayush Homa increases the Life span in general, the Mrutunjaya Homa addresses the issue of ill health and diseases.

It is one thing to attain Longevity but Disease free Life is another..

It is advisable to perform both at the same time.

It is ordained in the Smriti that these Homas are to be performed every year for a child upto to the age of Five.

And one can have this  performed any time in during one’s life till one reaches Sixty.

For them these are performed in Sashtiapthapoorthy and Sathabhishekam.

Mruthyunjaya Homa.

Maha Mruthyunjaya Homam is dedicated to Lord Shiva to avoid untimely death. The Mruthyunjaya Homam is performed to achieve Jaya or Victory over Mritya or death. The object of worship of this homa is Lord Shiva. One of the synonyms of Lord Shiva is Mrityu. Mrityu which means death of the death or the destroyer of death. During this homa one chants 21 mantras. The prominent offerings in this homa are durva grass and an herb called amrita.

The former is famous for purifying blood and the latter is used as a medicine for in a, it is believed that this homam bestows longevity on the performer. The hymns are devoted curable diseases like arbuda or cancer. Since these are used as offerings in this hom to Mrityu, the God of death, praying for long life. These hymns are used in the purnahuti or the final offering in the famous Soma sacrifice. This homa also alleviates Mrityu dosha or untimely death.Dedicated to Lord Shiva to avoid untimely death The Mrityunjaya Homa is performed to achieve Jaya or Victory over Mritya or death.

Twelve Strand DNA In Vedic Texts Rudras Adhityas

$

Present studies and researches have shed more light on DNA.

Earlier it was proved that Humans have only two strands of DNA( even now this theory is being followed)

But recent researches show that there may be additional Ten DNA Strands , instead of two as is theorized now.’A total of 10 DNA Strands are ‘mutating and awakening’ according to Researchers.

Human Chromosomes..jpg

A microscopic image of human chromosomes. Little Alfie Clamp has an ‘extra arm’ on one of his, in what is believed to be a world first.

Boy with Three Strand DNA.jpg

Baffling: Alfie Clamp, two, has an extra ‘arm’ on one of his chromosomes

These ten strands have been called Junk DNA.

Subsequent to the finding of a child with three DNA Strands , researchers are now stating that there may be a total of 12 DNA Strands and ten of them are in the process of mutating and we would have twelve DNA Strands.

Three Strand DNA Image credit.www.ascensionearth2012.org

But they are unable to fix a time frame for this.

The increased number of DNA Strands would enhance human capabilities.

As Indian texts speak of DNA and Cloning   I was checking the texts.

There is evidence of this concept in the geographical pattern in the Sri Yantra.

I shall be writing on this shortly.

In the meanwhile it is worth remembering that the Puranas, Ithihasas Ramayana and Mahabharata and Indian treatises on Medicine speak of the enhanced capabilities of Humans in the Sathya Yuga and these capabilities gradually degenerated over the Treta, Dwapara Yuga and the present Kali Yuga.

The longevity, physical characteristics were enhanced with people of gigantic proportions  and they had consciousness at a higher level.

There is a reference of the Shiva Linga spewing DNA from Space , DNA Mutation and Stemcell research in Indian Texts.

The reference to Kasyapa’s wife Thithi giving birth to disfigured fetus might indicate Genetic alteration.

And there are the 11 Rudras and 12 Adhityas.

Rudra is an amsa of Shiva , Shiva being referred to as Paripoorna( Complete)

Vishnu is one of the Adhityas.

Is it possible that the information conveys the message that there are 12 DNA Strands?

And that they evolve as the Avatars are indicative of the evolutionary process?

As the DNA Strands determine our life with coded past information, is it possible that horoscopes represent the records of our past genetic codes affecting and guiding our lives?

‘These dormant strands of DNA have been discovered by scientists, who not knowing the function of these strands, have identified them as ‘junk’ DNA.

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a nucleic acid that contains all the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living things.  The main role of DNA is the long-term storage of information.  DNA is often compared to a set of blueprints since it contains the instructions needed to construct other components of cells.  The DNA segments that carry genetic information are called genes, but other DNA sequences have structural purposes or are involved in regulating the use of genetic information.

Our DNA is therefore our personal blueprint and as such contains all our mental, physical, emotional and Spiritual information.

The original Human Being had 12 Strands of DNA actively working and maintaining the full function of the Human as a Spiritual Being.  With our over preoccupation with left brained thinking and the closing down of our heart centers, these ‘extra’ DNA strands have been lost.  The consequences of this loss are that we live in a spiritually deficient society and our intuitive and healing abilities have been hugely reduced.  It has also resulted in us only accessing and using a very small part of our brains.

The human body is the most valuable thing we will ever own.  It stores and holds a wealth of information, wisdom and knowledge on every aspect of ourselves, our world and all of life.  Combinations of intelligence are stored within the Human and a great amount of data is stored inside the body.  Inside our bodies are the formulas required to replicate other forms of intelligence throughout the Universe.

At conception, we receive, from our two different bloodlines (our parents) certain matched and paired recessive genes.  These genes hold light codes that give us the highest opportunity for accessing and developing our Spiritual abilities and for healing the damaged and wounded aspects of our Soul.,

A two-year-old boy has become the only person in the world to be diagnosed with an extra strand in his DNA.

Brave Alfie Clamp was born blind and with severe disabilities, which led doctors to carry out various tests.

They revealed his seventh chromosome has an extra strand of material which has never been documented anywhere in the world before.

Doctors are baffled at his condition, which is so rare it does not have a name.

Medics also have no idea whether his condition will improve or reduce his life expectancy.

Alfie, from Nuneaton, Warks., can now see and he will have an operation this month to fix an intestinal problem caused by his condition.

His parents Gemma and Richard Clamp only discovered something was wrong with their son after they first took him home.

Within days, he was rushed back to hospital after he stopped breathing and his lips turned blue.

Then when he was six weeks old, doctors discovered he had a rare abnormality in his DNA.

Mrs Clamp said: ‘When the doctors told us I was absolutely devastated. As a pregnant mum you spend nine months thinking about what it will be like when your baby takes their first step or claps their hands.

‘Having a boy like Alfie makes you appreciate the little things. He didn’t roll over until he was 18 months old, but we were so excited when he did.’

UFO Directs To Sri Yantra In River Bed US

Sri Chakra is the Tantric Symbol in Hinduism.

It is a Mathematically organized symbol to facilitate the worship of the Divine Mother.

Please read my articles on this subject.

Sometime earlier I read that Sri Yantra was found in the US on a lake bed .

I wanted to write about it but forgot and got busy in writing about the History of Sanatana Dharam based on archaeological evidence available across the world.

I remembered the Sri Chakra article this morning when I was going for a walk .

I checked my articles on Crop Circles.

ad6b6-sriyantraoregon df720-oregonsri-yantra8-10-1990newsarticle1

The following information does not appear in my articles.

‘A very large, perfectly formed, ancient Hindu mandala called the Sri Yantra was discovered inscribed into the dry lake bed by an Air National Guard pilot on a normal training run from a base near Boise, Idaho. This symbol was over a quarter of a mile in length, and consisted of over 13 miles of lines etched into the impacted mud 3”-10” deep. No human or tire tracks were found anywhere near the site. A group of 5 artists from Iowa claimed responsibility for the symbol’s appearance saying they carved the entire design with a garden cultivator during a nine-day period. No other pilots or anyone else reported seeing the design at any stage of construction.

“Analysis of the formation’s line indicated that the soil had been removed, whereas the artists’ garden cultivator / plow method produced small mounds of dirt on either side of their demonstration lines left from where they plowed,” according to ICCRA. ,

‘Two researchers, Don Newman and Alan Decker visited the site on September 15, 1990, and reported the symbol as being furrowed into the dry lake bed about 3″ deep, noting that the area was noticeably missing any signs of tire tracks or foot prints even though their own tire tracks left 1/4″ deep marks on the crusty surface of the dry lake bed. After further investigation their colleague, Jim Deardorff, wrote the story for UFO Magazine. ,

After one year Deardorff learned from Jennifer Brown-Jacobs, who at the time had been head of the Portland UFO Group, that two men had a UFO sighting in the area during this same period. They’d been camping with a sail-plane group at the western edge of the Alvord Desert near that dry lake bed. Their sighting took place the evening of July 5 or 6th around 10 pm. They reported seeing an array of three bright lights, the color of sodium-vapor lamps, forming an equilateral triangular with the apex facing upwards to the northeast. The array occupied about three degrees width and lasted ten minutes.

They didn’t think much of it at the time and when they looked that way again 20 minutes later the lights were gone. However, they noticed a strange small puffy cloud where the lights had been. Extending from the cloud were two straight appendages positioned at 2:30 and 8:30 respectively at 12 degrees overall. They estimated its location as eight miles away and 15 degrees above the horizon. This placed it directly over the dry lake bed. They watched the stationary cloud for about an hour. Due to the eyewitness accounts, the sighting was classified as an unidentified, and was later associated with the Sri Yantra earth scraping. After the story broke, a group of artists claimed they had created the Sri Yantra. ‘

Contrary to the Pseudo Tamil protagonists who thrive by spreading the lie that Tamil was independent of Sanatana Dharma and it was imposed by the Aryans from the North, the early Tamil King Karikal Valavan, the great Chola King built temples, introduced the worship of Indra, calling it the Indra Vizha of which the Silappathikaram speaks highly and performed the Aswamedha Yaga!

Karikala Chola Sculpture in Ekambaranathar Temple.

Karikala was a great city & temple builder :
There is evidence in Purananuru for Karikala Cholas faith in the Vedic Hinduism in the Tamil country. During Karikala’s reign, the capital city was moved to Kaveripattanam from Uraiyur. He made Kanchi a city of palaces. According to historical sources, Karikala Chola a great ruler before proceeding to the Himalayas first set his foot on the divine land of Kanchi. Some say that his conquests and building of Kanchi palaces are as debatable.

Poompuhar (Kaveripattanam) – a port city of cholas : It was the capital city of Cholas. The ancient Kings like Sembiyan, Musugundhan, Manuneethicholan and Karikala cholan, who carried myths with them, added to the glory of Poompuhar town. Poompuhar grew into a great city during the region of Karikala cholan. The excavation has also been taken up near Champapthi Amman and Pallavaneswaram temples. Remains of a brick building and a boat jetty were discovered at Keezhaiyur area at Poompuhar. Copper coins were also found. These coins are both of rectangular and circular shapes. The chola emblems of the tiger with upright tail and the sun were engraved on them. These coins are considered to be those of KarikalaCholan. Among the Chola kings, King Karikalan renovated and built the renowned port of Poompuhar (located in Nagapattinam district).

Lord Villiswara Temple : Thiruttani and Velanjeri Copper Plates are perhaps the earliest Chola record to refer to the exploits of Karikala. One more inscription throws a different light about uruthirang kannanar A mandapa was donated to kannanar by Karikala. 16 km north of Coimbatore, houses shrines for Lord Villiswara and His consort Vedanayaki. It is of historical and religious significance. This is an ancient shrine, one of a sacred cluster built in the Kovai region by Emperor Karikala Chola.

Perur Patteeswaraswamy Temple : This temple was built by KarikalaCholan. It is situated near the river Noyyal and is about 7 kms west of Coimbatore on the Siruvani main road. temple is at its decorative best in march, when the Panguni Uthiram festival is celebrated. This ancient shiva temple built by Karikala Chola early Christian era is having a Swayambumoorthy and is dedicated to Lord Shiva by Karikala. This temple is also known as Mel Chidambaram, the exquisite sculptures in Kanagasabai are the main tourist attraction. There are some priceless sculptures in the Kanagasabai Hall in the temple, which also has a large number of statues. The King Vishnuvardhana of Hoyasala dynasty converted many shiva temples to vishnu temples and became an enemy to Karikala Chola who was a staunt Shivaite and who ruled the country around Srirangam.

Arulmigu Shree Velayudhaswamy Thirukoil – Senjerimalai is located at 46 KMS from Coimbatore. As Lord Muruga set out with his battalion to subdue the demon Surapadma, Lord Shiva summoned Muruga to the Thenserigiri hills and, initiated him to certain mantras, endowed him with invincible powers to route and destroy the demon and his retinue -this is the legendary origin of this temple. Since then Lord Muruga came to be worshipped as Manthragiri and Sri Velayudhaswami. This temple was originally built by Karikala Chola and renovated by veeraballalai III dates back to 13th Century. A holy spring called ‘Gnanatheertha Sunai’ and a sacred tree known as ‘Karunochi’ can be seen.

Thirupasur Shiva Temple : It is one such rich shrine that has come to us from a very distant past. Built by Karikal Cholan, it is on the Thiruthani National Highway, about 60 km. away from the city of Chennai, to the east of Thiruvalankadu and west of Thiruvallore Veeraraghava Swamy temple. We have the Sathiamurthy Saagaram on the north and the grand old shrine of Thiruvooral or Thakkolam on the Southeast.

According to the legend, there was a thick growth of bamboo in this place. The presiding deity of the temple of Thiruppaasur, a Swayambu Lingam, was covered by the wild growth. They were startled when their ‘vaasi’ accidentally hit upon the deity. Their instrument had already caused deep cut-marks on the idol. They rushed to king Karikalan and he constructed a temple for the Lord and consecrated the deity. ‘paasu’ is another name for bamboo and the shrine is therefore known as Thiru-paasu-oor. The holy shrine of bamboo. ‘vEy’ is another name for bamboo. Since the deity was a Swayambu that appeared amidst bamboos, the Lord is known as vey-eendra-naadhar. The Lord born of bamboos.

Another legend has it that Karikalan, who ruled a vast territory and had a large army, could not withstand the attack of a very minor chieftain. Going into the reason, Karikalan understood that the chieftain was under divine protection of Kali. A devotee of Lord Shiva, Karikalan worshipped the Lord, who sent Veerabadhra along with him. Veerabadhra shackled Kali, thus enabling Karikalan to win the war. There is a deity of the shackled Kali in Thiruppaasur, known as Swarna Kali, in the outer corridor. The statue of Swarna Kali Amman was damaged by the passage of time and another idol was consecrated in June 1986.

Tiruchattamangai : The Chola King Karikalan is said to have built this temple. This is a shrine closely associated with Tiruneelakka Nayanar. Sambandar is said to have arrived here after visiting Tirunallar, along with Tiruneelakanda Yaazhpaanar. This is a Shivastalam in the vicinity of Tiruppugalur, Tiruchenkattankudi and Tirumarugal and is located in a hamlet surrounded by lush coconut groves. It is located 11 km to the east of Nannilam. It is considered to be the 81st in the series of Tevara Stalams in the Chola kingdom located south of the river Kaveri.

‘The Silappatikaram (c. sixth century C.E.) which attributes northern campaigns and conquests to all the three monarchs of the Tamil country, gives a glorious account of the northern expeditions of Karikala, which took him as far north as the Himalayas and gained for him the alliance and subjugation of the kings of the Vajji, Magadha and Avanti countries.

The Sthalapuranam of Tiruvaiyaru near Tanjore relates that as the king returned after conquering northern India, near Tiruvaiyaru his chariot wheel sank into the mud; when it was being dug out seven idols belonging to Dakshinamurthy, Vishnu, and Saptamātṝkās were discovered. A voice from the sky instructed the king to install them in the Panchanadeswara Temple in Thiruvaiyaru and performed Kumbhabhishekham, which the king personally participated in and completed. There are also epigraphs that relate to this incident. They say that the king commenced his ashvamedha sacrifice and subdued a total of 66 kingdoms all over the world and extended and empire up to the mythological Lokaloka.

Homas Neutralize Electromagnetic Field EMF

The power of Homas have been explained in the palas, results accruing out of performing Homa.
The results are beneficial or otherwise.
If the Homa is performed for a cause that is beneficial to All, then the results are very fruitful for the one who performs the Homa.
Homa is a sacrificial offering to Gods through Fire, Agni.
HOMAS are of two kinds.
One is in Yagnya when it is performed because it ought to be and the other is in Yaaga when it is performed for a specific purpose in mind.

More than delivering beneficial results, Homas also remove excess ELECTRO MAGNETIC FORCE.
EMF alteration to the advantage of the individual is one of the results of Homa. Image 2

Photo 5. Jake holding a glass of Agnihotra ash water above the meter. He is standing under the power lines 50 meters away from the Fire hut. The meter reading plunges to near zero in proximity to ash water.

Over the years we have had many people passing through Om Shree Dham, Homa Therapy Centre here in the Hunter Valley, NSW. Some people who are sensitive to the radiation of high voltage power lines have noted with surprise that our Fire Hut is positioned right under an electricity power transformer. However, on going inside the hut, all have commented that they do not experience any electromagnetic field distortion.

Recently Jake Wearing from Victoria visited Om Shree Dham and brought with him an EMF Trifield Meter, capable of measuring magnetic output, so we had the opportunity to measure EMF on our property. The results confirmed what people have been experiencing over the years. However, the test done was on a casual basis, not according to scientific protocol.

Jake had told us that the EMF meter measured high readings around power transformers. We asked him to take a measurement right under the transformer and next to the meter box. This is right next to our Fire Hut. To our astonishment, the dial on the meter did not move. It stayed on nearly zero. (See Photo 2 & 3)

Not until approximately 50 meters away from the Fire Hut under power lines did the meter start to register EMF (Photo 4). We held a glass of Agnihotra ash water above the meter, to see if it would make a difference. To our delight and surprise, the dial plunged close to zero (Photo 5).

urther, Jake noticed that whenever Frits or I moved close to him to view the meter, the dial went down. We remembered Shree Vasant telling us that the energy fields of consistent Agnihotris would be healing. When Jake, who had not been a regular performer of Agnihotra, held the meter under the power line, the dial registered EMF (Photo 4). We then felt inspired to see what would happen if he drank the ash water. Lo and behold, the dial moved down close to zero!

Agnihotra Effect Water Purification Experiment Result

I have written articles on Homas, type of Homas, their efficacy and the effect of Homas on Electromagnetic Field.

haw

How Agnihotra works Image source http://www.homatherapy.org

‘As already stated, under steam volatilization, the various volatile oils get diffused

in the surrounding atmosphere along with steam and smoke. Since these oils have
distinct good smell, the foul odors are automatically replaced.’
‘Not until approximately 50 meters away from the Fire Hut under power lines did the meter start to register EMF (Photo 4). We held a glass of Agnihotra ash water above the meter, to see if it would make a difference. To our delight and surprise, the dial plunged close to zero (Photo 5).’
There is report of a Study conducted on the effect of Agnihotra on Water and how it helps the process of Water Purification.
Here is an excerpt.
‘Agnihotra is a special fire performed exactly at the time of sunrise and sunset in a copper pyramid. It comes from ancient Vedic Knowledge. Agnihotra is said to purify the environment and especially it has been found to have profound impact in mitigating water pollution problem. The present study shows that water will be purified if it is kept in a room where Agnihotra is regularly performed. Water purification also happens if water bottles are kept inside a Faraday Cage in the Agnihotra room. These results suggest that Agnihotra creates an energy field beyond the electromagnetic field which has profound impact.

The experiment was done with three replications. All showed considerable improvements in water quality compared to control in all the five parameters tested. Table 1 shows the results in detail, Table 2 shows the percentage changes as compared to control.

See the result in the Image below.

data2

data

Fig. 4 is a graphical representation comparing properties of all the water samples kept in Agnihotra atmosphere versus control.

There was a general improvement of water quality in all the parameters measured as compared to control. These changes are consistent through all three replications.

Although there was some difference between the water samples kept in metal containers and the samples kept in bottles regarding DO, pH, and COD, this difference was rather small compared to the difference with control (Fig. 5).

Fig. 5 – Comparison of properties of water kept in Agnihotra atmosphere (in unshielded bottles and bottles with shields from different materials) versus control (%)

Also, there were some differences between the different kinds of metal containers – but again these differences were small compared to the difference with control. Further, experiments could look deeper into these differences.

The main results with all three replications and all parameters of water quality are that:
a) Agnihotra atmosphere helps to purify water.
b) This effect of purification is there whether or not the water samples are kept in Faraday Cages.

The conclusion seems natural that there is some kind of energy field around Agnihotra which is not of the known electromagnetic type and which is not shielded by Faraday Cages. If someone has some alternative explanation it would be interesting to hear about that.’

Subrahmanya Formula Agnishtoma An Orgy?

$

I have been searching for material to write on Gautama Rishi.

It is inevitable that one has to have details about Ahalya, His wife.

In the sources on Ahalya I have found some links that seemed to me a misinterpretation of some of the Vedic Rites.

That is the Subrahmanya Formula, a Mantra recited in the Agnishtoma Rite.

In this rite the Mantra,

Murugan with Valli and Devasena

Lord Subramanya with Valli and Devasena

‘Subramanyom’ is recited thrice.

Subranyam + Aham

One would have noticed ,at Home while performing Homas, and at the temple.Yaagas, the Santhi Mantras conclude with,

Subramanyom chanted thrice.

The meaning is,

May I become the Best Brahman, the Reality.

Brahmin is one who has realized Brahman, the Reality.

Subrahmanya is considered as the Best among Brahmins as He is reported to have explained the meaning of Pranava OM to His Father Lord Shiva.( hence Subrahmanya is called  Swaminathan).

But in the hands of the Foreign Scholars(?) with a Mission to destroy Hinduism  and half baked pseudo left wing(?) writers, this sentence and the ceremony associated with it takes a beating.

In the same way these scholars have written that the Asvamedha Yaaga performed by King Dasarata was followed by an Orgy with Rama’s Mohter Kousalya copulating with a Horse!

From Max Muller to Ambedkar,..

This Mantra , chanted during the Agnishtoma is accompanied by an Orgy, it is implied in their comments and explanations of the Rite!.

The Procedure explained in the Rig and Sama Veda,Aitreya Brahmana does not say this.

I am posting this article to misspell any misunderstanding that might arise because of not reading the Sanskrit original Text and an objective translation.

Hinduism has two parts in performance of Yaaga.

One is factual and actual.

Another one is allegorical, like the Purusha Suktha which describes the evolution of the Universe and not a mere Yaga/Yangya.

Agnishtoma is a Yaaga as it is performed with a specific purpose, for welfare and begetting progeny.

Oblations are offered to Fire symbolically.

The Subrahmanya Formula Details.

peculiar ppoQanciation of thjls formula is noted by Pl^ini (1,S, 37-38).
The most complete information on its use being only to be found
ia the Samaveda SiHtras, I here give the* passages from L4ty§iyana
referring to it along with the formula itself: —

^'^f^^'S >i ?T^^ ^^w[^ ^J^T^ ^Tff^mifmTK f%-

After the Atithya Ishti has b^n finished, he (the Subrahmany^)
should stand in the front part of the enclosure made for the wife of
the sacrificer inside the Vedi, and when touching the sacriflcer and
his wife, after having called thrice '' subrahmiinyom," recite the
following formula, '* Come, Indra ! come owner of the yellow horses !
*' ram of Medhatithi ! Men& of Vrishanas'va ! thou bufiiilo (gaura)
" who ascendest the female {avaskandin) ! lover of Ahaly& ! son of
'* Kus'ika ! Br&hmana ! son of Gotama ! (come) thou who art called"
(to appear) at the Soma feast in so and so many days how many
there might intervene (between the day on which the 8abrahmany4
calls him, and that of the Soma festival at which his presence it
requested). The Subrahmany& is required on the second, third^
fourth, and fifth day of the Agnishtoma, and almost on every day of
the other Soma sacrifices.^ On the second day the terms tryahg
tutydm, "three days hence" (i,e, on the fifth); on the thrid day,
dvyahefutydm, t. e. two days hence ; on the fourth, *'rfl#,i. e, to-
nionow ; and on the fifth (the day of the Soma feast) adya^ ue. to day,
are uspd to maik the time when the Soma banquet, to which Indra
is by this formula solemnly invited, is to come off. As far as n-pif

which is followed by the mentioning of the time appointed "VSJ^, 'WJf^

Sec. there is no difference anywhere observable. But the few
sentences which follow, and which conclude the formula, differ accord-
ing to different schools. Some were (according to L^^vayana)
of opinion, that only ^f^Tn^i^ " cotne hither** is to follow; others
recommended 3i)T9*i^ im^cf, "come hither, O Magha van. "Others,

such as Gautama, were of opinion, that either is to be omitted, and
the concluding formula, ^^T ff^VT «nir^^cfTJl''^flT^^?f
" comp, ye divine Brahma priests, come, come !" has to follow
immediately upon ^R^f*

384

Through this son the Subrahmany& priest milks •
(obtains) all desires for the sacrificer. For Vach

? rants all desires of him who has this knowledge,
hey ask, What is the nature of this Subrahmany& ?

The name of the tune (S&man) according^ to which it is chanted
(or rather recited) is Brahmas'ri, the metre is called Sampdtg the
Rishi is Aditya, and India is the deity.

At the 80-called Agni:*htut sacrifices, which open the Chatur-
das'ar&tra Sattras (sacriticial sessions lasting for a fortnight), (Aa'T«
8'r. S. 11, 2) the 8ubrahmany& calln Aq^ni instead of Indra (L&ty&y.
1, 4) according to Gautama, by the following formula :

^V ^TJT^ rif^fiTWlt ^^^HTifT W#1TT «»T?l5^T f%^^
«Ttfif^ ITT^TUflfn^^ ^^TTF? »• «• " Come, O Agni, with (thy)

two red ones (horses), thou brightly shining, thou blazing in smoke,
J&tavedfts, thou wise! Angirus! Bi-ahmana, (come) called," dec
In the concluding formula ^\ Ji^o,^Xi-q fires, is used inatead of
^j^j According to Dh&nanjaya the Subrahmany& formula for Agni

runs as follows ; ^TTT^TTJT^ ^Tf^ff 'T BH^T^ HTITST^T^T ^^^:
^T ^l^^^f»^lR§T srmfir'C^. (the remainder as above) i. e.

'* Come, Agni ! master of the red horses, goat of Bharadvftja, son of
power, thou who ascendest (the female) ; lover of Ushas/' ice The
latter formula is just like that one addressed to Indra. Agni, as weU
as Indra, are in both these formulas, which must be very ancient,
invoked as family deities, the first pre-eminently worshipped by the
Angirasa, the latter by the Kuslkas. Both ffods are here caUed
" Bi&hmans." In later books ludra appears as a Kshattriya, and
as a model of a king.

On the so-called Agnishtomtya day of all sacrifices (in the Agni-
sh^oma it is the fourth and precedes the Soma day), on which day
the animal for Agni and Soma is slain and sacrificed, an extension of
the Subrahmanyi formula takes place. The Subiahmany& priest
has on this day to announce to the gods, that such and such one
(the name of the sacrificer must be mentioned), the son of such and
such one, the grandson of such and such one, offers, as a Dikshita,
(as initiated into the sacrificial rites) a sacrifice. ("^fg^T^lJiS)
The term ' Dtkshita' forms then henceforth part of the name of the
sacrificer, and his descendants down to the seventh degree. In this
part of India there are many Biahmans distinguished by this honorary
epltiiet, which always indicates that either tlie bearer of it or his im-
me«iiate ancestors have performed a Soma sacrifice, and have been
proclaimed dikshita by the Subrahmany4 in all due form. ,

* J^uhe must be a 8rd person singular, as S&y explains it.

One should answer, She is Vach. For Vach is
Brahma, and Subrahma (good Brahma).

They ask, Why does one call him (the Subrah-
manya priest) who is a male, a female ? (They answer)
Subrahmanya represents VacH (which is in the
feminine gender).

They further ask, When all the other priests are to
perform their respective duties within the Vedi, and
the Subrah manya outside the Vedi, how is it that
the duty of the Subrah manya (in this particular
case) becomes performed inside the Vedi ? One
should answer. The Vedi has an outlet where things
(which are no more required) are ' thrown ; if the
Subrahmanya priest calls (the Subrahmanya) when
standing in this outlet, then, in this way, (his duty
is performed within the bounds of the Vedi). They
ask. Why does he, standing in the outlet, repeat
the SubrahmanyS, ? (On this they tell the following
story.)

The Rislns held once a sacrificial session. They
said to the most aged man among them, " Call the
Subrahmanya^ Thou shalt call the gods standing
among us (on account of thy age), as it were, nearest
to them." In consequence of this the gods make
him (the Subrahmanya) very aged. In this way he
pleases the whole Vedi.

They ask. Why do they present to him (the Su-
brahmanya) a bull as a reward for his services ? (The
answer is) The bull is a male ( vrlshd)^ the Subrah-
manya is a female, both making thus a ( ouple.
(This is done) for producing offspring from this
pair.

The ^gridhra repeats the YSjya mantra for the
P^tnivata Graha (a Soma vessel), with a low voice.
For the Patnivatais the semen virile, and the effusion
of the semen virile passing on without noise, as it
were, he does cot make the Anuvashatk&m. Foe

33 a

386

the Anuvashatara is a stop. Thinking, I will not
stop the effusion of the semen, he does not make the
Anuvashtkara, for the semen which is not disturbed
in its effusion, beare fruit. Sitting near the N'eshtair,
he then eats, for the Neshtar is in the room of women.
Agni (Agnidhra) pours semen in women, to produce
children. He who has this knowledge provides
through Agni his females with semen, and is blessed
with children and cattle.

The Subrahmanya ends after the distribution of
the Dakshina,* for she is Vach. The Dakshina is
food ; thus they place finally the sacrifice in food,
which is Speech.

SECOND CHAPTER,

(On the Skastras of the minor Hotri-priests at the

Saitras.)

(On the Shastras of minor Hoiri-priests at the morn^

ing and evening libations!)

The Devas spread the sacrifice. When doing so,
the Asuras approached them, thinking, let us ob^
struct their sacrifice. They attacked them from the
right side, thinking this to be the weak point. The
Devas awoke, and posted two of their number, Mitra
and Varuna on the right side. Through the as-
sistance of these two, the Devas drove the Asuras
and Rakshas away from the morning libation. And
thus the sacrificers drive them away (if they have
the Maitravamna Shastra repeated); thence the
Maitra varuna priest repeats the Maitravaruna Shastra

* He represents Agni.

* The Dakshin& is distributed at the midday libation.

387

at the morning libation. The Asuras, defeated on the
right side, attacked the centre of the sacriftce^ The
Devas awoke, posted then Indra, and defeated through
his assistance the enemies. Therefore the Brahma-
nachamsi repeats at the morning libation the Indra
Shastra.

The Asuras, thus defeated, attacked the sacrifice
on the northern side. The Devas posted on this
side Indragni, and defeated thus the Asuras. There-
fore the Achhavaka repeats the Aindragna Shastra
at the morning libation. For by means of In-
dragni the Devas drove the Asutas and Rakshas
away from the northern side.
